In watching the sniper series tonite on the Military Channel. I noted that almost all of the Army snipers, including the instructors, were using the first crook in the finger, or the middle segment of the finger, for the trigger pull. How do you place your finger on the trigger? I use, and always thought it best to use, the outer segment pad; but I am a rank novice.

How do you place your finger on the trigger?

First, I shoot Free Recoil. Nothing touches the rifle except the center of the pad on the first segment of my right index finger. This is how I do it. Watch this very closely: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9194636798795391569#.

Sometimes, I'll put my thumb behind the trigger guard and then squeeze the thumb and index fingers together. Give them a try.

P.S. Expand the video if you can.

Different jobs, different methods.

Back in the dark ages, when I was in the Corps, we were taught and I still use the first diget.
