Tribute coffee

Hmm. We got a small amount, so tonight I ground up a bit -- a little more grounds than usual, per Wilbur, and made up a mug's worth in the French Press.

After grinding, there is a spicy aroma in the air, and I worried about that. Not an issue. There is a little bit of a spice taste in the coffee, but not in the aroma of the brewed coffee. I'm not going to try & describe it with the proper coffee connoisseur words (don't really know them), but it's a nice cuppa. Little bit of an earthy taste, but not excessive, and certainly not bitter. All in all, quite smooth.

For that reason, I don't think I like it quite as much as Wilbur. In any case, like Wilbur, can't afford it too often.

Also got some Kenya medium, & will try that another night. What Karen Blixen grew. That's Karen Blixen of the .333 Jeffery fame...

Charles, what ever you do, do not try to keep up w/King of coffee drinkers (cook & bottle washer.) Once he and I were in northern Fla.
in a coffee marathon (two participants) . After 9 hrs and 69 cups , I fell asleep trying to drink coffee w/King Coffee. Do not attempt what I did. You can't win, and now he's started w/this "pressed, spicy new fangled coffee. Can't do it. Once @ Ramada , Wadsworth , Ohio, the coffee machine in the hotel lobby,,, spit out a note. (I give up, please back to your rooms) but nothing doing,, off to nearest all night McDonalds, for another cup.

Egad, Charles, you haven't gone yuppie on us have you?
I had to meet a couple guys at a Starbuck one time. The three of us each ordered a black coffee. The barrista, is that the word?, and everyone else in the line looked at us like we were from outer space or just whacky. .............

It was pure surprise Francis - you've got "pumpkin spice latte" written all over you.

I had to meet a couple guys at a Starbuck one time. The three of us each ordered a black coffee. The barrista, is that the word?, and everyone else in the line looked at us like we were from outer space or just whacky. Never being one to pass up the opportunity to make a point, I muttered aloud something to the effect that real men drink it that way. Half the guys around us dropped their jaws, grabbed their hips, broke their wrists, and dropped their purses. Alright, that's a stretch. The rest was true.

Last time I was @ Starbucks, we were in Las Vegas, Golden Nugget Starbucks. We sat outside in a small fenced area, w/tables and chairs, w/36 qt igloo cooler full of Michalob, until two in the morning , when they ran us out for 20 min. for cleanup,, good cold beer, never got to taste any coffee. Real drunks do it that way.
