Hey Ron, :)

Always good to put a face on the name. I enjoyed meeting you and Everet today.

I'll never forget "gathering around the water cooler" for it's virgin run! :D

Maybe I won't need to do it again, my BAT came in today for my Heavy......

Al, what are the specs on the BAT? and what is the build?

Yo Ron,

Da' bullets ain't for sale :) They'll only last for this barrel anyway. I'm gonna' have to tool up for something else. My latest reamer is ground for the new Bergers.

BTW, this chamber was cut with one of my 6BR reamers..... it has over 30 thou of gapspace at the front of the chamber! It seems to clean up good though. Time will tell if the new reamer will shoot better. I don't know whether or not gapspace affects accuracy.

The BAT is a weird grind. It's a 2" Model 'M' large tenon cut down Billy Shehane style to 1.650"X1.750" octagonal. It's cut as a mirror image thru-port RB/RE and I had Tom add a roller like the three-lug. I'm building the rifle around a Redding 300WSM FL die. The reamer was spec'd off the die. I've finally got enough parts to put together a gun.

Regarding the build.... I'm a wimp. I want the gun to come in at 35+lb, preferably 50lb. This week I'll start weighing parts and slabs of steel plate to see if I can bolt enough steel to the obeche stock to make weight. If not I'll have to weld up a steel stock. I'll probably do this anyway as I want to experiment with a flex-mounted or hung floating barreled action.

Always with the ongoing experiments :D
