I have a new Shilen pre-fit for my Savage Target action on order. It is a 30" 1:8 twist. I want to primary shoot 2 bullets: 107 SMK and 95 Berger VLD. Below is a pick of the 107 SMK (left) and the 95 VLD (right) set to the distance to the ogive is 1.734". This puts the base of the boattail junction at the bottom of the neck with the longer 107 SMK. I figure that will give me maximum barrel life to case the lands as they move forward with age. Question is that seated too deep with the 107 SMK? Hope this is the right forum to post under.

Thanks, tiny

Should be OK with th BT junction right at the base, although slightly above would work also. I have been using the same bullet in my 6mmBR jammed about .010". I think it is slightly more accurate than the Berger 105 and 109 grainers.
