use this product, I need to ask a few questions. Is this a reamer as well as a length trimmer? Why are you using a reamer? What are you trying to do. Understand that BR shooters seldom use reamers and see no reason to.

The tool is designed to trim to length, deburr the inside and the outside of the neck in one operation.
Are you lubing the inside of the case neck before trimming?
What kind of die are you using? Some dies oversize the neck so badly that it will score the inside of
the neck, that can be done with a regular trim button also.
I use this tool on .223 and .308 cases that are used in semi auto rifles. When I switched to a bushing
die with .001 or .002 smaller than bullet diameter bushing and lubed the inside of the neck, the scoring
ceased to be a problem.

The brass is new lapua 308. Tomorrow I will try a .308 neck expander and lube try again. Thanks for the replys.I will let you know.

Ain't that thing supposed to be used before sizing? Actually, I don't know what I'm talking about but it seems this is the opportunity to find out.

New Lapua .308 brass is way under the diameter I want to seat bullets into. I usually run a K & M expander into them before I perform any work on them. Even then, there's more neck tension than I prefer.

Tried a 308 expander die [redding] helps a lot but still a slight scoring on inside.I may turn out a .310 on the lathe.

Thanks. Chuck.

OK, then is it scratching the inside of the case neck with the thing that sticks inside the neck...the piece that locates the neck to the cutter? If that's where the thing is scratching the neck you've got few options. If you have to use any force to shove the neck over that thing it's gonna scratch the neck. If the neck is not straight with the cutter it will scratch the neck. If you intend to use the cutter, having seen what it does, fit your necks to the cutter as best you can and live with the scratches...they don't matter that much...if you say it real fast. Truth is, the scratches don't matter at all and in time they will diminish given the proper fit.

Try polishing the locator so that it can't scratch much.

Just use a brush with 0000 steel wool that will take care of the scratches. I do it all the time, no problem!

Misalignment of the pilot and case. Square things up. Readjust with a properly sized shell holder or ensure that the pins that hold it are seated where they're suppose to be. Make sure the case is seated securely at the bottom of the shell holder. :)
