This sight is hard core .22 benchresters but I would like your thoughts and opinions on the Cooper TRP. The TRP is thier .22lr benchrest gun. Will it compete with the nice customs?

Don`t- Jim Williams has 9 Cooper BR 50 model 36`s that he will sell for a 2/3 of TRP,these were the factory rifles that were competitive in the late 90`s,if you just have to have a Cooper. Don is telling the truth if you gonna shoot in santioned matches , if you are just plinking you`ll be O K

check the ara list for equipment used then go from there. no trps in the mix.

I remember the 36 IR 50 sporters, Are the BR50 models similar with the Jewell trigger and Lilja barrel?

I asked Jim if any of his had Jewell triggers ,and he said no, Cooper made 50 of these some were in McMiillans and some were in wood in the same configuration,I believe Jim had them priced at one time $900-$1000 each, they were still in their Cooper boxes. They have Lilja barrels.

I'm a dedicated fan of Cooper rifles. They are as good as it gets without going full custom (though they now offer custom services). The TRP is a sweet piece of equipment, will outshoot any factory rimfire I've ever seen and is a joy to shoot. It will not, however, compete with full custom BR rigs anymore than any factory centerfire will compete with a custom BR rig. The TRP is made to enjoy at club shoots, etc., but not for the BR circuit.
