can you put a hoehn tuner on a centerfire rifle? it looks like it would work on a centerfire as well as a rimfire. just figured i'd ask.

Oh Boy....don't get them started.

Check the Centerfire side....lots of heated discussion taking place regarding this.

The answer is YES but not everyone agrees...go read for yourself.

That is a fair question.

We rimfire shooters are still learning. I cannot see why the vibrations in a centerfire barrel would not be similar to those in a rimfire barrel. I believe that you could find a node and work it out to the crown and tune it in any barrel. The recoil may move a clamped on turner but it would be worth a try.

Surely someone else has tried. The Hoehn tuner works well on rimfire if you get the weight right. Why reinvent the wheel?

Why don't you ask Hoehn?

I believe this has been tried. I don't recall any basic issue with tuning just trying to keep it on the gun. Issues with muzzle blast and those 2 little screws.

Tried a hoehn one on a savage 223 model 12 only change that was made to the gun a new trigger [basic] The gun was shooting 3/4 in groups at 200 yds after testing about 25 rounds was able to bring group size down to 1/4 at 200 yds. after all most 200 rds tuner still tight. May not help a full blown bench gun but who knows

that's the same gun i was thinking about putting one on myself. i have a model 12 .223 and was really thinking hard about a tuner on it. my .308 bench rifle would really benefit from one but keeping it on the barrel would be the hard part.
