Thinking outside the box for a national air rifle BR competition location

Seems like a location is still up in the air due to limited facilities (no offense intended to any club) and no great desire to have it in Phoenix again. That's OK, provided some out of the box thinking is applied.

For example, why does it have to be held at a club facility? Why could it not be held somewhere that could handle 100 or more competitors? Competitors shooting LV, HV, Open, Spring Piston, Hybrid, Unlimited, 100 meter "exhibition", etc. Someplace with facilities for campers, RV'ers, vendors and the banquet. Someplace that serves as a multi-day destination for a multi-day event. Does such a place exist besides Phoenix?

Well, yes it does. One example - and I'm sure there are many, many others - has apparently been found by an air gun forum for their annual event. Moreover, the facility will apparently host the national black powder association tournament, so (with the possible exception of 40 benches) it should be able to handle a National BR competition. The facility is the Gallatin County KY Fairgrounds

OK. Facilities exist but who would put on an event together not hosted at a local club. Hmmm. That could be a tuffy. Tough unless of course the Board and Club Directors worked together to make it happen. A club director for example, to handle vendors. Another to handle prizes. A Board member could responsible for scoring with another working directly with the facility and a third to handle banquet catering. Seems straight forward to me.

Let me again emphasize that I'm not saying this is the place to use. Likewise, I'm not saying the Board and club Directors have to be the committee to run the thing. I am saying that rather then try to cram an event with nation wide interest into an otherwise unsatisfactory facility , it might be best to look for a facility that can host as many people, if not more, than the 80 some that attended the 2014 national event.

Of course, we could all just come to Phoenix's Rio Salado Sportsman's Club (RSSC) again, but (full disclosure) that would be self serving since I live just 25 minutes from the RSSC range.

Best wishes to all.
