Thinking of starting RFBR, Need Help

I have been thinking about starting to shoot in some local "backyard" br matches. I have decided to build my own action. What would you like in a custom action. I have 416R pre-hardened SS for the action. What should I use "steel wise" for the bolt. Thanks for all the information.

The Halls are nice but there is just something about a one of a kind that you made yourself. I think I may base it off a 40x but with a few twist ( built in bases, sako bolt release, trigger hanger, square tang and more). what else would you want in a custom action.

Easy loading is very important. You want one like a Suhl, Anschutz, or Swindlehurst that you can just drop the round in and close the bolt.

Also, many shooters like having the 2 action screws in front of the trigger. You might search the forum because Stiller had a good discussion going about this same topic several months back.

I agree with Dan about basing yours on a Suhl or Anschutz. If you do go with the 40X, you might want to consider downsizing the barrel port diameter to .850" rather than using their larger 1.whateverthehellitis" thread diameter. Both the Suhl and Anschutz are already there.
