Congratulations Colonel Bart Sauter and Harley Baker for gaining the necessary points at Holton this August.

Bart

Having served three joint tours during my career, two in DLA and my last in USPACOM, there are a few things I learned about the Army:

a. They hang more junk on their uniform than any other service.

b. They award medals like there's thousands in drawers that need to get used up.

c. They all have an "I love me wall", in their quarters.

d. They all call each other "Sir", even in social settings, and even if there's only one pay grade difference between officers.

And now [this must be something new] getting frocked to O-6 upon induction into the HOF.

What's next? You get Billy inducted so he can make BG? :D

Correction to the above.

A slight correction to the listing above, and also shown on the US Hall of Fame Excel spreadsheet.

Bob Scarbrough, Jr. currently has 16 points, as shown on the "Summary" tab. The "Short Summary" tab had incorrectly shown Bob as having 15.

Also, to answer Bart's question: I'm not sure who Mr. Richard Baker is and where he is (was) from. He did, however win his first eight points in the IBS during 1978 and 1979 (seemingly all within a one-year span). He actually won the 1978 IBS Nationals Three-Gun; thirty five years ago. Sir Richard then waited ten years to win his last two points at the 1989 NBRSA Natinals by winning the LV Grand. The history of the Hall of Fame points winners prior to 2001 is shown on the "HALLFAME" tab of the spreadsheet.

It is interesting that we have most of our current "Top Shooters" relatively well-known today, but I can imagine someone asking the question in 2048 about who some of those current shooters were.

I would also believe that in 2048 anyone interrested in Benchrest would recognize the name Tony Boyer.

Some additional info on H-of-F shooter Richard Baker

I have received some additional info on Hall of Fame shooter Richard Baker. Sir Richard was a college professor at Bloomsberg College in Pennsylvania. According to the e-mail that I received last evening, he was ..."one of the few who used a skeleton aluminum stock in LV configuration. He was also a very nice guy and very competitive most of the time." I have no information as to whether Professor Baker is still with us today. One responder remembered that he may have seen his name at a Nationals at Weikert ..."maybe ten years ago".

I always like hearing stories about some of the older shooters in our game and thought that some day I'd like to put a collection of data together on the Hall of Fame shooters. However, that will be a project well out in the future when work isn't so time-consuming.

Also, in regard to the coding on the "HALLFAME" tab of the Excel spreadsheet, I can't answer that question. I didn't do the spreadsheet prior to 2001; that was created by Rex Reneau. Perhaps Rex used that code for some type of sorting on that page of the spreadsheet.
