test

Jerry,
Yes, put it in the head stock. The pictures shown is not a completed tool, I have to install the bearings and turn the shaft. I will center the K&M base tool and drill it for a pin that fits the primer pocket.

John, I'm doubting that pressure from the primer hole rod will exert enough pressure on the case rim and shell holder to drive the case being turned. Might work though. Try it, thats how we learn new stuff.

Where will the bearings or bushings fit and run with this design?

Case turning tool

Jerry,
I will use the complete K&M case holder, but use the pin to center the case in the holder. The bearings will be in the part that has the morse taper. It will go in the tail stock. I can use the tail stock to push the case on the shaft. I don't know if I can pull the case with it becasue it may pull out of the tail stock. I say why not put 25 hours in makeing something that cost $25. I think a $1.00 hour is good for my time. Gets me out of the house.

Wow, this is getting interesting. Is the extreme right end where the Moris taper is? Are you using bearings with two different diameter OD's?? I'm further confused now than before (nothing unusual about this though)

Why not just make your own neck turner, nothing complicated about it. In 25 hours
you can process 500 or more cases and when your ready to do more, the neck turner
is still set where you want it.

Brian,
Thank you for your input.
MORSE, MORSE, MORSE.
I,m sure that is why they make spell check.

Another way...

A piece of scrap steel into the 3 jaw chuck with a couple of inches hanging out...

Turn it slightly larger than neck diameter...

Turn a portion of it the same diameter as the inside of the neck so it pushes on fairly firmly with the tail stock live center in the primer hole ...

This should take about 10 minutes and you can start turning case necks... :D

Another way is the Forester drill press tool...

Dennis,
The brass looks good, wouldn't your case neck get hot? It gets hot when I use a drill at low speed and my K&M cutter.

Morse Taper. Mores Morse the better, or more's mor'se the better
Look how I spelled it and I should know better. Actually my spell checker suggested Moris, then I looked at it and thought that doesn't look right but thought "what the ell". Getting too old to worry about it though.

Dennis, does your lathe method look anything like post # 10 in the thread below?
