Going for "tens" on the A-36 target from 50yds is for sure hard, since its just a tiny dot, heck, the six-ring is dime-sized and five ring nickel-sized. but thats what we wanted was plenty of challenge, and with winds pushing some of us well over 2", thats what we got!

Were gonna have to get some better flags!

Larry,
Thanks for the report and I loved the pictures Rich posted on another Forum.
I shot in two matches this weekend with lots of wind in Salem NY and My match in Holbrook MA. The winning pellets in NY .22 Kodiaks I never had to hold out past the 9 ring. I switched to JSB 18 gr and had to hold up to 1 inch away.
Doug won my match with JSB's but is watching the flags!

Will try a 50 Yard match next.

Since Rich and Matt have me now considering

A swap back to .22 cal on my loaner gun, I will make mental note to try Kodiaks ... wow, holding the nine ring? I've NEVER seen it that calm at my place while shooting.

Matt said he was going 760fps with the 16gr JSB's ... how fast are your Kodiaks going?

Larry,
I set up my CHRONY as I didn't know what speed as I adj power to get the smallest group.
The JSB's 18.1 just shot 12 pellets 820-835 with a 2800 fill.
Kodiak's from 762-776 again one mag.

This week I received the USFT #63 I bought used. Less than 100 pellets. Came with .22 barrel mounted and a .177 the man never put on.
Using JSB 18.1 got these numbers.
775,779,773,772,777,776,773,774,779,777,776,779,773,779,771,779,781,780,779,782,777,777,775,779,780,782,779,780,779,775,773,777,776,773,771,774,774,774,762,759 stopped after 40 shots from a 1800 fill down to 1400.

JSB 14 from 1800 845-854 10 shots

CP 851-856 10 shots

Mounted a scope and shot it on the 25 yard indoor range. Didn't like the lower weight pellets 1/2 to 1 inch groups. JSB 18.1 1/4 inch 5 shot groups. Next best Kodiaks 3/8 inch groups. I will mount a Weaver T-36 for the next indoor match in two weeks.
Will look for the address to sent $$ for the USFT Forum.

Is #63 the gun Joe in Ojai had?

Sounds like it has some potential. For sure those JSB .22s can be accurate, but like the Crosmans, they need weigh-sorted I guess.

Matt Kellerman, who won this Sunday at my place in some terrible winds, was shooting 16gr .22's at 760fps.

We shoot at targets on a bit of a slope, and there is often a crossing headwind producing drift averaging around 2" to the right ... but I had shots pushed DOWN over an inch sometimes! I was shooting .177 10.5 Premeirs at around 900 fps.

Larry,
I bought #63 from Joe from Oxnard, CA who runs Benchrest rimfire matches on his avocado farm. Open Grove is his range name. He was very helpful to me, getting my Rapids shooting. He has a .177 and .20 shooting Great. We still can't come close to his outdoor scores, shooting indoors at Holbrook!
