First, our prayers are with all of our Team USA members that they arrive home safely.
Next, we sincerely hope everyone had a good time and a satisfying experience during their time at the World Championships. A big thank you to Craig Young and the organizers at the host club for a very special opportunity.
Lastly, we are all proud of the performance that this team put together, it has exceeded all expectations. A solid sweep in LV, an air rifle class that lags far behind in popularity with USA benchrest shooters. A gold and a silver in HV and the same in the team competition, even though we put no thought into assembling our teams. To top it off, the JSB trophy for the top aggregate score stays right here in the USA after a long journey across the pond. Not to mention, the generosity displayed by Team USA members. No matter how any individual performed, this was a team effort.
From starting our sanctioning organization, to writing qualifying rules with some of the best minds in the air rifle world, a long learning experience during qualifying, more qualifying scores from all corners of this country than anyone expected, picking teams and alternates, last minute substitutions, acquiring shirts and hats and the commitment to travel, make no mistake, this was a team effort and air rifle benchrest will never be the same. Great job Team USA.
Now, it is time to look ahead. We will have a qualifying process for the 9 team member slots to shoot in the World Postal Championship during 2012. We also will have a qualifying process for a National Postal Championship that will culminate in 2012. Finally, it is not too early to look ahead to 2015 for the next World Championship in Brisbane, Australia.
