Hi Guys!!

Im new here, and cant find a spot for a WTB area, so please hear me out! Im looking desperately for a good used Tasco 705 scope for my Ruger #1V in .220 Swift! If anyone here has one they would part with, please email me at heliguy@mymts.net

Thanks for your time!

nice first post I guess you have never heard of the word classified

Haven't seen a 705 for sale in a while, but they're sometimes on Gunbroker.com. My dad bought a used one real cheap in the late 80's (24X). Stuck it on a home-built .50 BMG and figured it was a roll of the dice on durability. That gun was completed in 1991 and the scope has held-up. Now granted, we're not shooting competitive 1,000 yards with it so I can't speak to its absolute POA. But for general shooting (ie, rock blasting) it has done well.

Why do you have to be so snarky with a new guy? Instead of castigating him why didn't you offer to help like Francis and Paul did?

I guess you cannot read the banner at the top where it says

HOME FORUM CLASSIFIEDS WHATS NEW

make this area a sticky ???? just funny no one can read or even try anymore

golly the classifieds are right next to the forum button

no wonder you americans are so far in debt no need to think, just join up and break the rules, it is all about me,

if there was more discipline and p[eople were taught rules it might be better for all of us,

have a nice day, oh and I bet he wants financing on the socpe as well,

pretty tough to read nowadays

Jefferson doesn't seem to understand the difference between looking through for sale ads for something to buy and advertising that you want to buy something. Some one who has a Tasco scope like ginnz wants may have not thought about selling it until he sees the WTB ad.

And welcome to the forum ginnz! Get your helmet on and come on in and talk a while. Just ignore the BS you may encounter.

Just happy he had the decency not to ask about where to buy a Harrell measure that tosses to the 5th decimal... ;-)

Yikes! OHHhhh the Humanity! Good thing I had my flack jacket on ..... And yeah, sorry guys, I do realize I was out of line a bit on where i posted this, but when I originally went to the classifieds, I seen I had to register there as well, which I did. Then I looked for a clear WTB section, and didn't see one. It also appeared that it cost money to post in that section? Anyways, I wanted my request to have the most exposure as I could get out of it, as I've been looking for one of these for quite some time, and the truth is, I could have had one in brand new mint condition but lost it to another buyer by 20 minutes! I had bought my Ruger#1 from a guy one province away ( I'm Canadian), and had emailed him asking if the barrel was tapped for the mounting block required for using one of these older long tube scopes. And when he finally did reply, saying it was, the scope had just sold! My search started then.... Since then I received my #1 and built up a load for it, using 40 gn Vmax bullets and H380, Im managing to get some very sweet groups! my best was 5 shots in just over 1/4" at 100y. Ive taken a few coyote's with it lately, and a week or so ago I took one at 320 y. Im starting to really love this rifle.... Currently I have an older Leupold VXIII 6.5-20x40 with target turrets on it. ;-)

And for all you guys who put up with my thread, thanks, and i'll be hanging around here a bit, as I like to do some long range shooting with my custom built Rem722 in an AICS 1.5 stock. I have a custom barrel built for this girl by a barrel maker here by the name of Bevan King. Its a 1.5" O.D spiral fluted Stainless barrel, chambered in .308 Win. Rumor has it that he's since retired, and I may have the last barrel he ever made... I have a Bushnell 6-24x50 Tactical G2DMR in Near Alphamounts on this bad boy. She's a true tack driver, but real heavy... No off hand shooting with it! I also have a dozen or so other rifles...... And I reload for all of them but the rimfire's

Well, this thread lived up to its intended purpose. I got to introduce myself, and I apparently found a good used Tasco 705! A nice gentleman from Texas has contacted me and it looks like we've come to an agreement.... Excellent! :) (Thanks Tom!):D Oh, and to Francis and Paul, Thanks for pulling me out of the fire! :);)

To all you guys, Have a good day!

I aint in here much, Is "Jefferson" the forum police? Looks like he like to put Americans down. Why he do that?

Yeah, I seen that too.... And he missed his mark, I'm Canadian! Eh... ;-) And once again, the hunt for the elusive Tasco 705 continues, as it turns out the nice gentleman who e-mailed me doesn't have a 705, he has a regular 6-18x40 AO with BDC turrets :-( It came about when he told me he used regular Leupold rings to mount it, as I asked if he had the mounting blocks as well, I realized he couldn't have used Leupold rings on that type of scope. And here I thought I'd finally found one..... Somewhere, Someone has to have one, all pristine like, with the nice metal caps and all, tucked away somewhere. :)

Sorry you got a bunch of crap. Some people just work tooo hard @ being difficult. I don't know exactly what a (705) is. I assume that is a fixed power, made in Japan. 24 or 36?

lee, i agree there is a wanted section..but wanted to what?? borrow ??? rent ?
the common use and title for BUYING is WTB.....
the wanted section could be anything...

Sounds a bit hyper-technical to me; surely, anyone who is looking to post an ad to buy/borrow/rent and saw a "Wanted" section in the "Classifieds" would take a look.

Seemed obvious to me too. Any other forum I've been on always has "WTB"s in the Classifieds section. Anyways, I'm glad the poster found a 705.
