Target Scope

I'm looking for an inexpensive target scope for casual rimfire competition to put on my Ruger 10/22. It must be a variable scope, ( 3-10x40 or somewhere in that range ) have adjustable AO, be fully muti-coated and target style windage and elevation turrets. I also would a prefer mil-dot type reticule.
My budget is about $350.00 maximum. I have ruled out Leupold and any other top of the line scopes as it does not make sense to me to put a $600.00 scope on a $200.00 rifle.
 
I wouldn't go too cheap

Check out Natchez. They are having a close out on the Weaver line. I bought a grand slam 6X20. It came with fine crosshairs with 1/8" target dot and adjustable AO. It has low profile target turrets with 1/8 moa clicks. It was about $250 because it was silver. The same scope in black was like 100 bucks more. I use it for prone target shooting and don't feel it gives anything up to Leopold (other than warranty perhaps). The weaver T series are favorites of the target/benchrest crowd but I figured I might shot offhand so went with a variable.

With the grand slam I know I have a scope I could put on any rifle and have it handle the recoil just fine. A good scope will outlast the rifle if cared for. I see nothing wrong with spending more on the scope than the gun and would never advise one to spend less.

If you really want a cheapy with mil-dot you could try a Leapers. I have one on my air gun. I can't say I'd trust its repeatability enough to target shoot for score but you can't beat the clarity and features for the price. You can find them at wal-mart under the crossman name.

look at the older Leupold scopes. They have always had great optics.
 
Lotta scope for not much dough

the 10-40 x 40 Tasco that can be had on ebay for around $100.00 (used) has pretty clear optics, enough to shoot 50 yard benchrest targets and holds POA real well. I have 2!
