Target Height?

I have read through the WRABF rules but I cannot find any information on the height for target placement at 25m. Is there a recommended height?

I am planning on making some target frames....I welcome any and all ideas and pics if possible. Thanks in advance.

I think that the target's bottom edge should be the same height as your bench top. Just my opinion. James

One of the neglected aspects of casual target shooting is placing the target at a height so that all shots are directed into the back stop. I have seen shooters post targets too high for sitting position, and too low for standing position so that bullets may ricochet off the ground, possibly over the back stop.

I've got to start paying more attention to what board the questions are from when I click on the link for new posts. Of course my answer to this question is mostly irrelevant for airguns. Oh well...the illusion of my perfection is gone forever.;)

First, decide if you will be hanging the target horizontally or vertically. After that, if the bottom edge of the target is roughly 12 inches above the top of the bench, things should be fine. Nothing in the rules on this matter, at the club/range's discretion.

Thanks for your response. Which way is more acceptable for hanging the target? I see from the way it is formatted horizontally is the logical choice.

Target Frames at Holbrook

I make my target frames from free wood. Local HD motorcycle shipping crates. Have to lock them up after a match. Use 18 X 24 coreplastic free Politic signs for backers. Top of frame is 6 1/2 feet to get pellets from skipping over 100 yard berm.

Nice photos Paul..

In a perfect world, it seems the center of the target would be the same height as the center of the barrel when the gun is in it's rest, all in level... but, since the benches are not all the same height, one would like to have some adjustment on placing of the target on the target frame... if one were to be making ones own target frame, one might consider making it large enough to have some adjustment for height.. also allowing for placing the target either vertically or horizontally.

Picture Free-standing frame

Didn't have a picture of the free standing target frames. Hole in the wall, Pinnacle Mnt have used them over 15 years. Z bar from Home Depot or Lowes (flooring dept) around $1.00 for 4 feet per target frame to hold the 24"X18" coreplastic.

Even vertical is plenty of room for world targets.
