Take a kid BR shooting- I think I had more fun than they did

An old friend and his family were vacationing in NY state and Vermont last weekend. Niagara Falls,Fort Ticonderoga,Ben and Jerrys etc. I suggested a day at Canastota. The kids had never shot a gun before. We started with some rimfire and then moved on to the PPC. Check out the smile on 15 yr old Zack Munson after shooting the "dreaded red gun" ! I couldn't reload fast enough.

Joel I am a plain base cast bullet shooter of the Schuetzen flavor and I have been privileged to take quite a few young adults out to the range over the years to squeeze on the trigger on my 33-40 and 32-40 Stevens to their hearts desire and I must say I have not had a more enjoyable experience.

Now if I could just convince one of them to learn how to cast match grade bullets for me that could possibly top the above experience.

Jim,
Nope, just a standard issue '05 Kelbly Panda. Brad Lewis nick-named the gun after we shot next to each other at the '06 SS ( had a great time). Took home a nice coaster set, some cash and finished up pretty good in the two gun. One of those "born good,un-fooled around with rifles".
I have shot the Clarence Hammonds- SS dominating, long bolt handle,Lee Six stocked Panda. Probably the smoothest most accurate Panda I have ever shot. Not shure what Clarence did to it but I would imagine "everything". The handle length was insignificant. I believe the "smooth" secret lies in the mating surfaces of the cocking cam and the cocking cam slot in the bolt body. The accuracy secret most likely lies in the trueness of the firing pin ,it's unimpeded forward movement and the alignment of the interior of the bolt body. This has always been a gunsmith's game. Those of us without those skills and talent are at a significant disadvantage.
But, back on topic, Take a kid shooting,or fishing,or hunting before this great American heritage is lost forever.
