Switch barrel work question, example=Rem 700.

When having a gunsmith set up ones rifle for/as a switch barrel rifle, what happens when you want to order a new barrel from a different source?
Can you order the barrel from anyone (Manufacture) and have it precision/competition chambered ready to install on your action?
Or, is this something that can only be done when one owns a custom action such s a BAT?

This going to depend on level of work your smith does to the action,are the threads going to be recut,is the bolt nose and locking lugs going to be trued,is he going to make good measurements and put them on drawing for future reference.
These are all items that will affect future rebarreling jobs.
