May be a little graphic to some.

Shot with a 7/300 WSM and 180 Berger VLD. I built the rifle earlier this year.

Nice Hog - and the Pig ain't bad either!

:D
How far was that shot? I hear those Berger VLD are great for long range hunting and match shooting. Good looking rig.

Thanks for the compliments. This boar got by me Saturday evening at 65 yards. Sunday morning he came out at 135 yards, I'd prefer a longer shot but hey, we take what we're given in the woods. He's in the spot where I shot him.

This is the first kill I've had with the Berger VLD's but, I'm more than pleased with its performance.

Did you recover the bullet?

What condition was it in? Where did you hit the hog?

Condition of the hog?? Not good after the shot :D
Condition of the bullet?? Didnt find it, pass through

I hit him just behind the left ear, the bullet exited behind the right ear. The hog feel where he is in the photo.

that is awesome. Perfect shot. Watch out for "dem redbugs" in that Louisiana pine.

Well, if--

Those Bergers will knock the boogers out of 'em and make 'em fall in the middle of the road I gotta get some. Most of Petunia's friends I've hunted lived all the way down and up across coronary canyon! I've learned to hunt pigs, not hogs.

Great Hog and nice rifle..

William:

I am going to send you some wooden "red apples" to put in your hogs mouth when taking pictures. That stick just doesn't get it.

When I shot hogs here I try to shoot them under 100 pounds. Those "bo hogs" can be rank.

Keep the trigger finger out of the knifes way.

A Great Shot Indeed--

I have helped drag out several hogs. All shot behind the ear, some as far back as a ham, but still thats behind the ear.
What Rusty said and some advice from my Mom 50 yrs ago--"If it has any thing other than mud pasted on it's butt DON'T shoot it and bring it home for meat." I still try to shoot the biggest one I can, but I prefer to do it with a bow and sharp pointy sticks.[arrows, not spears] I am running out of people that will take a second gift of fresh wild pork.

Now if I could train a pig to find magic mushrooms--
