Could someone advise w/ a few photos showing the lubrication areas for a Suhl -150? .... I'm a new Suhl owner and have been previewing all the Suhl posts, would sure like to get up to speed on proper maintenance of my Suhl.
Photos would be a huge help! ... What type of lube is recommended?

Regards,

Well Mass Shooter, I don't have any photos, but I'll try to walk you through it anyway as it's not hard.

On any rifle you own use only one thing for both cleaning and lubing a trigger, and that's Lighter Fluid. Remove the trigger from the gun, then go outside (for both safety and ventalation purposes) and flush the entire assembly with Lighter Fluid. As it evaporates, and that won't take long, it leaves behind a very thin film of lubricant. And that's all there is to that other than for reattaching it to your gun. Be careful when doing so not to overtighten the two hold-down screws, just enough to securely hold the trigger unit in place.

To clean the bolt on a Suhl, you can disassemble it by unscrewing the cap at the rear. When doing so, once the cap has been removed be very careful not to loose the spring and/or push pin that protrude from the back side of the bolt handle as they sometimes will pop out once the pressure has been released. Here again, you can use lighter fluid to clean the inside parts of your bolt, but, once again, do so in a well ventilated area, like outside.

Other than that it's just a matter of cleaning the bolt race-ways, then applying a light coating of a good lubricant (such as Tetra Grease, but there are several out there) over the entire outer surface of the bolt, then adding a little extra lube on the surfaces of the bolt lugs.

That's it! Super easy!!!

By the way; from your name, are you from Massachusetts, or do you just do a tremendous amount of shooting?

Hello Dave,

thank you for that information on the cleaning. Sounds quite straight forward to me. I was reading on another thread on a bolt locking up and sure don't want that happening to mine.

I'm from Massachusetts and I do a fair amount of shooting but not in mass quantities, I'd like to though! :)

Thank you again

Mass Shooter,

As of right now there are three ranges within driving distance, that is other than for if you're living the life of leasure somewhere out on the Cape, then Holbrook would be about the only range within 2 1/2 to 3 hours from you.

At the Holbrook Sportsmans Club in Holbrook, Mass they hosts outdoor Rimfire and Airgun benchrest matches on the third Sunday of each month throughout the summer, and Indoor Airgun benchrest matches on the first Saturday of each month year round.
There's Pinnacle Mountain Fish and Game Club in Lyndeborough, NH that hosts both Rimfire and Airgun benchrest matches with only two matches left for the 2009 season, one being on the last Saturday in August, then the last being on the second Saturday in September.
Then, if you live more in the central or western part of the state, or don't mind driving for a bit, there are both Airgun and Rimfire benchrest matches held out in Salem, NY. These matches are held both on weekends, and sometimes in the evenings mid-week throughout the summer season.

If you're interested I hope this will help as we would love for you to join in the fun. Plus, attending a match would be a great opportunity to not only get all of your questions answered, but also would give you a chance to see who is shooting what, and why.

Hope to catch up with you at a range somewhere.

Dave,

thanks once again for this information for the macth competition. I'm aware of the club at Holbrook, but never shot over there. I belong to Southboro Rod & gun and we have friendly competition matches (public invited) for all types of rifle/pistol displine.
I'll scope out the next match at Holbrook, and perhaps we can meet up there or another club. Would be a pleasure. I don't mind the drive to any shooting range.

Regards,
