Stupid me, I lost the ball bearing in my 40X trigger

I just had to try and adjust my trigger last night at the range. I backed the screw out too far and that little ball bearing got away. I have a match on Saturday and need a quick fix. Does anyone know what diameter that ball bearing is?

TIA,
Russ

I was fiddling with the adjusting screw on my first 40X seeing how low I could get the trigger & still keep the firing pin cocked. When I leaned the action over to use the trigger pull gauge a ball bearing rolled out. It is .125 in diameter. Maybe you could explain how the ball bearing goes back in.

If you know the size of the ball, Ace Hardware has a selection of ball bearings. They range from about one inch to almost too small to see.

They 40X had two different triggers depending on when the gun was made. Mine is like this one. http://team40x.com/articles/trigger.html

Basically you back out the screw a bit and there is a hole where you drop the ball bearing into it. Be sure the spring is still there. Then run the screw in just far enough to keep the ball bearing from falling out.

Mad, I didn't think Ace would take kindly to me bringing the gun in for a trial fit:) I suppose I could remove the trigger. I figured at least one of you guys had done the same thing I did and knew the size.

Thanks y'all,
Russ

Go to Team 40X and look in the Good Reading section. http://team40x.com/
You will find PDFs with break downs, drawings & my Shade Tree trigger work for 40X's.
The little Ball bearing is held in by the weight of pull screw (Pointed end)
You backed out the screw too far. Just drop it in the hole in the front of the trigger and depress it against the spring with a touth pick or something that will fit the hole. Turn in the weight of pull screw until it retains the bearing.
Be careful or you will also loose the the spring!
Early on I also lost the little ball. Took the action to Aces and found one that would fit.

If you put.....

slave pins in the trigger, you can take it out & walk it to where ever you want to go, & try-up the bearings you want/need.

Eventually you will get to this point: Toss it and install a Jewell and forget about it.
I've seen Speedy throw Shilen triggers in the trash and install a Jewell between relays.
