Strap on

Sorry for the pun, but I could not resist;

I was on the PSL website and noticed what looked like a small bungie cord that went from the front of the trigger guard to the back of the front rest ie. " strap on ".
Was wondering the purpose of this.

Also has anyone here ever tried to tune or dampin a barrel with large O rings.
I ask this because I came across some old sewing machine belts that are very havy O rings and they fit tightly on my 64's barrel.....was thinking about trying them today at the range...I think I'll put one on the barrel at the end of the forearm and go from there....I only have 3.....I will let you know what happens.

It has been done

Yes, these methods have been used in the past. Not every barrel will respnd the same way. Cheap isn't always the right answer.

"O" ring barrel tuner

Joe,
Google, "Suhl homemade barrel tuner" you will find all the information you need.

The bungy is a return to battery spring. It holds the rifle against the front stop and pulls it back after firing. The first time I saw this was on Bill Myers rifle and rest.

O rings tested

I made it to the range sunday to test the O rings. But only had 10 rounds of wolf TM and 50 rounds of wolf ME. Shooting at 60m I shot a 5 shot group with the TM and then I let a friend shoot the last 5......Then I shot a 5 shot group with the ME and to my surprise the ME did not shoot as good as the cheaper MT. The one 5 shot group I shot was about 1.3" with 1 or 2 flyers. So I put on 1 O ring about 2" infront of the forearm and nothing so I roled it forward about 3" and still nothing. So i put the 2nd one on and moved them both to the middle of the barrel, this seemed to slightly tighten up the group. Then I moved both O rings to the front of the barrel, about 1.5" from the muzzel. This not only tightend the group but it eliminated all flyers, but it also changed the POI.......WHY?
Im going to a local gun show this weedend in Pittsburgh with the expectation of buying some good target ammo.
I plane to get more O rings and try to really tweak the barrel as best I can.
