Straight Barrel and Bore Importance

How important is a straight barrel (and bore) to a great scoring rifle. I'm talking one that is straight enough to not have to worry about pointing up or down. I'm not wanting answers about indexing, just importance of a barrel that is straight enough to thread and fit without any other variables. It's obvious that tuning is the next most important part. Ammo next. But pure form.....straight barrel and bore....what's your thoughts?

Adding a standard tuner drops the POI about 1/2 inch. Do you want it straight with the tuner or without?
