Hi New to this forum and new to long range
I would like to try a new shoot this summer, varmit silhoutte (800 to 1000yds). I have a Stolle panda in 6ppc that I have not shot for years and was wondering about rebarreling to 6.5 x 284. The bolt face will take a .473 case but I am not sure about case length. Also not sure if the glued in action will take the extra recoil and stay together. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks Dale

Wayne,

Not quite.

The rifle will work (as in "shoot"), but a loaded 6.5-284 round exceeds the length of the loading port. If this occurs, be prepared to toggle the bolt stop if a "Cease Fire" is declared, since this usually means there is an unsafe condition downrange, and making rifles safe (by unloading) is required.

Asa, if a "cease fire" is called, you would, or should be, directed to remove the bolt anyway. I understand what you're saying, but for the most part, a Panda handles a 6.5/284 and a 30/284 quite well. I've done both.
