I was doing a little research on stock tape for a use in another application and came up with an interesting piece of info:
What we call stock tape was originated to protect helicopter rotors from erosion and impact damage from small debris.
Probably the biggest application for the product currently is for invisible "car bras" for expensive high end cars.
