Stiller rimfire action

Hello,

Long time lurker, first post.

I am looking for some info on Jerry's new action. (should to be out soon)

Repeating and/or single shot action?

What clip will be used on repeater?

What kind of bottom metal treatment is planned (something that would be a drop-in fit for 700 BDL inletting would be awsome).

I built a couple of customs with Stiller actions.

I would love to build a custom rimfire Stiller this summer or fall.

I sent Jerry an Email, but have not heard back yet.

Just thought I would ask this very knowagable group.

Thanks! :)

Scott

I've been waiting on one of the actions myself. In an email a while back Jerry told me he was hoping to have an action out this Spring, if everything went well. I took him at his word and haven't bothered him about it since, but I do hope he gets it completed and on the market this year. Maybe he will see the post and give an update on whether or not it will be available this year.

He is so backlogged on the Perdator and Tac actions I doubt you will see that action before 2010.....

Lew,
You seem to know what's going on out there, and you should since you're in Texas. If that's the case I need to hunt another 40X action to put this new barrel on, I don't want to wait that long since I'm getting older every day. I've turned down two 40X actions in the past couple of months, should of bought one I guess. Thanks for the information. Appreciate it!

Kent and the other guys ,Please don't get me wrong Stiller and the crew make a great action, and other products. His remington clones are great. he can't make them fast enough. He has a group buy going on and is a little late filling orders so is every action and barrel and stock maker. Just hang in their just wait your turn. Don't forget the rimfire market is small compared to centerfire BR and F Class type shooting. Yes I would buy a 40X and others but when stillers action comes out it will be the new standard I believe.

Respectfully, I did not ask for speculation on "when" action would be available.

Looking for insight on the specifications of action.

Thanks for your help.

Hey scott if it ain't out yet how do we know what it looks like ask stiller next time...

Lew,

Because it seems like a few people on this forum have "inside track" information.

I did indeed send inquiry to Mr Stiller.

I understand he is very busy, so I posted my question here too.

Lawton /Gene Davis

Gene Davis has the Lawton and maybe a few "other" actions.
:)

Bump

It has been close to two months. Has there been any updates/rumors about the stiller Rimfire action.

Thanks
Trevor

At this time I've given up on seeing a Stiller RF action. He told me in an email it'd be Spring. Spring has arrived in these parts a while back? I'll just stick with the 40X actions until I quit this crazy game, which looks like real soon:)
I wish you guys luck waiting on one of the actions. I'm pretty old, and don't care much for waiting. Turbo is a very good RF action. I'd look there if I was wanting one.

Jerry told me four years ago one of the prototypes would be sent for evaluation that summer and I set it up to be smithed by Hongisto.
Then Jerry got busy. He went where he and his partner could make some money. Maybe he will get caught up someday and get back to the rimfire action, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
I know he will come through because I trust him. He earned my trust in the summer of 2004 when I shot all summer at his gun club.
Bitching, crying, whining, and complaining will NOT make things go faster.
Maybe if you could threaten his centerfire customers to quit buying actions and rifles you might get one sooner?
As for me, I got all the time in the world or at least until I turn 90 years old or so. Then I will pass my dibbs via my last will and testament to another deserving rimfire benchrest shooter.

Jerry's a really smart and friendly fella. Don't push him.

update for 40x rimfire

I have made drawings for the bolt and am finishing up on the final tolerances. They will be sent to dave kiff in a few weeks. I am gonna make a few on the first run and make sure they work with the changes I made. As soon as I get the bolts back, we will make a few bodies. I am getting closer to caught up. It only took a new wire machine, rough broached blanks, 3 new mills, 2 employees and about $250k. After the Varmint Hunter Jamboree we should be caught up on the centerfire if nothing big happens. I know I have been wrong every time before, but it looks like it will happen this late summer or fall. With Kiff getting drawings from me, the only change we have to make is to the body with the mid lug cut and I think I have that figured out. Dont hold your breath, but dont give up either.

Jerry,
Thanks for the update. I look forward to seeing one of the actions when you get some available. I think you will make a very good one.

Dale,

"Bitching, crying, whining, and complaining will NOT make things go faster."

Since I seem to think that was directed at me, I noticed NO bitching or whining in my post. Wait until your 90 years old if you choose, I'm not that damned optimistic:)

If the shoe fits........... I didn't direct my comments toward anyone in particular. But if you want it, it's yours.
You are Not on my dibbs list anymore. Besides, I think you are older than me anyway?
Jerry's rimfire action is an ongoing project just like the space shuttle, or most projects in gunsmith machine shops. He'll git er` done directly.
Dale

Thanks for the update Jerry, like many others I'm hopefull but in the end I'd rather have it right rather than quick. Might I inquire about the bolt? are you no longer going to use Kiff's 40x bolt? Just kind of curious.
