I have what I beleve to be a Stevens Favorite rolling block .22 lr. The only writing on the barrel is A.W. Peterson Denver Colo. It also has a scope that at first glance looks like a Unertl but on the scope it says J.P. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. Chicopee Falls. Mass.U.S.A No, 486

Can anyone tell me what this is? If you can about what is the rifle worth?

Thanks

Randy

Based on the limited info, it sounds like a Stevens 44-1/2 with Peterson barrel...A very desirable gun among collectors and Scheutzen single shot shooters. A.W. Peterson was from Denver, and made some very good custom barrels, right along the same quality as H.M. Pope. It was common to have the target single shots rebarreled by the best barrel makers of the day, just like today. The 44-1/2 is not actually a " rolling block action", it is actually a falling block with lever underneath. It could also be a different manufacturer other than Stevens such a Remington rolling block. Stevens did not make a high quality target rifle with the rolling block design. If you could post some pics or email some to me, I can give you a better description. seewinr@aol.com
