Have just purchased a Stevens 200 in 300Win mag and was wondering if any of you good old boys have any experience with this rifle. Have owned a 300 win. before so am not afraid of the recoil but am interested to know if the plastic stock is likely to need epoxy bedding or are they ok as issued. Will not be able to pick up my rifle for quite a while as I live in Australia and we have some interesting gun laws, my last rifle took 3 months to get processed. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has a light rifle in this caliber as to how well they shoot and what needs to be done to them. Reguards Murphy.:D:D

never had one in 300 win mag, but did have one in 300wsm. Great entry level rifle, exspesialy for the price. it shot ok as shipped, but the forend of the stock was a little flimsy and would bottom out on the barrel when shooting off a bench. Also trigger pull was quite heavy not having its savage brothers Accutrigger. I ended up putting a bell and carlson stock, and a rifle basix trigger on it. Now it shoots very well.

let me know how it shoots when you get it, im eligible for a moose tag here this year, and ive been thinking of trying one of the long magnums on one this year.

happy shooting.

To williev, Thanks for your reply. Have loaded up a stack of ammunition from 215g Woodleighs to 110g sierras and some cast bullets, now I just need to get the rifle past the red tape and I will let every one know how it shoots. I like the way after market gear is avaliable for this rifle.Things like laminated stocks , after rmarket triggers, and custom barrels should give me a lot of fun.
