You may find that the current debate is on deliberate deaths, not accidental.

Secondly, the difference between the two stats that you quote is that it is more than likely that people attend a doctor when ill, which is not necessarily, perhaps not even likely, the case of the second group. I fear that were the information complete, & the ratio of patients who survive were included, the the position taken would become ludicrous.

I don't believe that a posting like this promotes or supports your position.
 
Use of those statistics is as idiotic as our current president. Having been a Vice President of a major hospital I am well aware of those statistics and how they were obtained. You are comparing apples to oranges.

If you ever suffer a gunshot you will want a doctor. Same goes with cancer.

Doctors carry an awesome responsibility. A doctor saved my wife. A doctor eased my mother's pain as her life was slipping away. Thank God I was a just a carpenter.
 
I worked with a guy who didn't like either MD's or insurance companies, due to his father having died of an incurable cancer. He was mightily offended that some MD's make pretty good money too. When I pointed out that lawyers generally make more than MD's he found nothing wrong with that. Then I asked him who he'd go to in a life or death circumstance, him not being charged with a capital crime or anything, and just got a baffled look.

Being an old coot I see my fair share of doctors anymore, my penance for avoiding them religiously for a long time maybe, and find that they do a pretty good job. Especially considering what they have to work with having me for a patient.

Oh by the way have you checked your ansestry records , for those that don't know the history of Australlia, it was a started as a penal colony for England. when the great war broke out they were short of men, so they drafted the crimninals from the island of Austraillia to help fight the war. We are in the battle for our rights under our constitution so butt out! Oh by the way I have been to Perth/Freemantle area and yes you have a really nice country, and as I recall the women were really friendly!

Please go back to watching ABC,NBC,&CBS, I am sure the koolaid your drinking will eventually wear off , and you will be able to see the witt, in Mike's post!

310 million people in the united states

350 million firearms in the united states that is not counting firearms owned by the military or goverment.

12 thousand firearm related homicides in the united states per year.

Arm your self, dont become a statistic. oh drink lot's of vitamin C and stay away from the doctor's. ,

as i said these are estamated number as close as i could find them.

I think its interesting with that number of people and that number of firearms. only (est) 12 thousand firearm related homicides
and consider that the homicides are done by bad people who abtained their firearm illegally and may have committed homicide even if they did not abtain a firearm. i could be wrong but that would look to me that firearm laws inplace work well. we are getting along with each other reasonably well and that it would seem the law obiding firearm owners are not as big a threat as we are made out to be.

now if we add sucide to the numbers we can and another 10-12 thousand firearm fatalities. i dont know what to say about that.

now if we add firearm related accidental deaths we can add another 10-12 thousand for a total estamated firearm deaths of 30 to 35 thousand per year.

now i know we could do something to make the accidental number go way down. How many people have been shot accidentally at a benchrest shoot?
i could not find any..because we keep our bolts out untill on the line, I left my rifle on the bench once and left my bolt in it. someone taped me on the shoulder and said hey get that bolt out of the rifle. I appologized and have never done it again..after the last shot the bolt comes out.
