Starting Bullet Suggestion for .243

Would someone please give me 1 or 2 bullet suggestions to start loading a .243 for 600+ yards? Just got a new savage and want to see if it will be a shooter. I have a good selection of powders but, any suggestions are welcome. I know that I will need to put new stock on it but before I invest in it I would like to know if it is worth going down that road (stock, then later barrel). I am pretty new to long range and don't have a starting budget for full build yet.

Thanks,
Regis

Sorry that I didn't include the 9.25 twist.

Thanks for the tips. I have some 80gr Seirra SBT And will get some of the 105 A-Max and work with those 2.

Thanks for the help. Should be able to shoot early next week

Randy Robinett makes a 95 gr 6mm FB and a 104 gr boat tail 6mm. Not sure of your rifles twist but guessing it will shoot either. If he is out and/or can't make any soon enough for you try Sierra Match King or Hornady A Max. My first choice would be BIB.

Randy Robinett is out of the 95 grain 6mm FB bullets. I talked to him about those 2 weeks ago. He is waiting on jackets. You might want to try some Berger 88 FB high BC or their 90 grain FB or even their 95 GR BT.

With a 9.5 twist I don't think you can shoot over 90 to 95 and stabilize them for long range. Most of the 600 and 1000 yard guys use 7.5 to 8 twist to stabilize the 105 class of bullet's. Matt

That was my initial question (600+ yards), even though I didn't initially give the twist. Do you see the lack of stabilizing by bullet tumbling making long holes or just simply big opening of the group when it reaches trans-sonic? I would like to get some use out of this barrel before changing it if for no other reason than to work on my shooting skill.

Thanks,
Regis
