Starating with 6mm XC

I've decided to rebuild my 40-X prone rifle as a 6mm XC. The Hart one in eight barrel and new bolt are on order and I have dies and cases. The rifle isn't done yet. I'd like to get started on the brass. Anybody have trim dimensions and starting loads for various powders?

I have a Bat-B in 6XC and Dasher, after shooting both calibers from the same rifle with all the same case prep and reloading jargon I found the Dasher to be much easier to find a good load for and it shoots way better than the 6XC, shooting at par with my 6ppc at 100m and shooting .400" at 300m and sub 1" at 600m while the 6XC barely made it below .250" at 100m and 1" at 300m.

if you haven't bought any 6XC specific stuff then you really should try the Dasher :)
 
Congrats on the 6xc. My favorite cartridge. I always like to shoot my brass once before I spend the time to completely prep it. I turn the necks just enough to clean them up. I go until the cutter just barely cuts the whole neck or 95% of it. I trim to length & just barely inside & outside chamfer. I de-burr the flash hole. If you choose to weight sort the cases you have to get pretty picky as my cases were all really close. I use Wolf primers mostly but I have also had good results with CCI BR 2 & Fed 210M. I have had the best results with either 105 Berger Hybrids or 115 DTAC's. With the 115's I start with 37.5 grs. of H4350. While H4350 is the go to powder for the 6xc you can also use Vit N160.

What would be a trim-to length?
Thanks for the other data. I'll wait until I've shot the cases before length trimming per your recommendation.

4350 is currently in short supply. If anybody has info on either R-17 or 4831SC that would get me started, until some short cut 4350 is located. Looks like a full case of 4831 comes up short on velocity.

I have a FL "S" with 268 and 269 bushings and a Wilson seating die with a VLD stem.

Check in a copy of the Berger reloading manual. They list many different powders that you may be able to find.

I am considering building an F-Class rifle that will be shot at 600 yds or less 90% of the time. I had been considering a 6 BR because of the lack of case forming & so on (I also have dies from another project, but that is not really any particular consideration). Is the Dasher that much better at 600? (I am aware that some records have been set with the Dasher at 600.)

Weird... thought I replied to this already. Must have not clicked 'submit' before closing the tab <shrug>

According to the product descriptions on pistoleer.com, both the A-51 and the A-27 are 50yd reduced versions of the A-50 and A-26 50m targets. Again, why are there two different targets for the same distance? One is apparently much older - 1990s vs. only a few years ago - but I'm not sure if that more recent update was anything other than making a 6 bull (vs. 5 bull) target.
