Stainless Steel Bases for Farley & SEB front rests

pardon my typing. I have an idea to get someone to build a SS front base for those 2 front rests.

Instead of weighing 10-11 pound they coud weigh 21 pounds and be a lot more stable on the bench.

304 SS is the least expensive at $5100 shipped from chicago to canada.

If you nest the patterns (putting one into another to save space) you might get in a 4 x 10 sheet about 40 so about $125 per piece
AND I HAVE NO DISCOUNT

Then water jetting at 200 per hour so what about 100 per piece
that is 225

Then polish and drill holes for the legs at about 40 per base
so that is about 265

Then drill or water jet the round hole for the seb or holes for the center of the farley another 30 or so

total is about 300 or certainly less for a discount on 40 or 50 bases donw at the same time.

you could do up 20 each and then save the semi-completed bases for the rest base that is more in demand. and finish the last few as needed.

so what would you pay, $500 I would pay $400 each for 3 and place a deposit to a reputable vendor. (no not Mr. D ,see I have a sense of humour)

SO ANY MACHINISTS OUT THERE TO TAKE ME UP ON THIS.

I am not bright, nor money wise but it would be better to do it in the us of a as they have access and less shipping on something like this.

I helped in the new Robertson Br stock, helped in the last run of gary sinclair model edgewood bags, so I can be a thorn in the side until accomplished.

WHAT SAY YOU OUT THERE ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

ANY TAKERS, I am sure it can be done for less.

( I have a SS SEB on pre-order and am not trying to take away any sales for SEB or FARLEY on this, if they want to take up the offer, I am in. Just worried about shipping overseas, unless by boat, and the chap in tacoma last weekend at the shoot could get it done but china is a long ways to go for coffee (or to enforce a contract) ( hit)

talk to a local machine shop. they will make one for you and you won't have to buy the whole sheet and be stuck with extra product and tied up money. sounds like a good idea to me but I don't know how many other folks would want to sink $1000+ in a rest. I have seen a nice base made from aluminum that made it real heavy. only problem was the handle lost a little travel on the down stroke.
