This will be a great weekend with the question and answer session with Darrel Barnes on Friday, Drawing for the St. Jude's 40X on Friday, and demonstration of the new "On Target" software all day Friday.

The “On Target” program was developed by Jeffrey Block, and he has produced something that will revolutionize the way scoring is done. Each target is scanned into the computer and then electronically scored with amazing accuracy. This will enable a 3 person scoring team to score 60 targets every 30 minutes with accuracy and consistency. After each target is scored, a print out will be stapled to each target containing an enlarged image of each bull and the score of each bull. Protests will still be allowed. The software will eliminate plugging the same bull multiple times and the possibility of altering the bullet hole. It is hard to put into words what this software will do, so come to St. Louis and see it for yourself on Friday 7-31-09.

We will shoot 5 targets on Saturday 8-1-09 starting promptly at 9:00am. We will shoot 2 relays.

I finally got some records up on the PSL website.

So, will someone beat the 2220 9.6X agg at St. Louis?

Dan,
If not Kirk beating his own agg., I'd bet on Jon McKinney doing it. They will both be in the hunt. Hope all is well and hope the turnout is great at St. Louis.

Dan, Karla and I plan on going down and shooting my first PSL match of the year . After seeing the target for the first time over in Arkansas on july 4th weekend . It looks pretty challenging to me and that the match is outdoors , i like shooting outdoors better. where do i buy a ticket for the gun raffle? let me know ....

Scotty,
I have one ticket left, just give me a call.

Is the Doc coming with you?

Food will be available at the range on Friday as well as Saturday lunch.

On target

Does "ON TARGET" have the capability to print a scored target to my printer yet? Thanks

Reccommended Scanner

Most scanners will accept standard letter size. Some will accept Legal size. Exactly what scanner can one use to scan a complete PSL, or ARA Target?
It also would help to know what OS is most reccommended.

There are a lot of relatively inexpensive Scanners & Printers available that will do 11 X 17 as well as A3. The ARA & PSL are both 11 x 17 & the UKBR an A3.
When Carl & I joined forces at the end of last year to come up with a World Target that is why we picked these formats.
You can find a download of the target at the World Rimfire website.
http://worldrimfire.com/tools/target.html
We used an IR 50/50 size as our basis since a lot of World Organizations were already using something close in ring and dot sizes.
A couple of organizations have adopted this target as their standard this year.

On Target does not have the ability yet to print a target. That particular software is for group shooting. The author, Jeff Block, is developing the scoring program we are using. The PSL is trying this program and giving Jeff feed back to make the necessary improvements and to work out the bugs. After we get it up and working perfectly, I believe Jeff will get it to work on other targets as well. As it is now, it will only work on the PSL target.

Fred,
We are using an Epson 11x17 flatbed scanner. You need to be able to scan 11x17 and do it at 300dpi for the program to work effectively.

Joe Besche and Kirk Gaston just turned in some big aggs this weekend. Jody Reed had a great weekend as well. Wonder who will come out on top in St. Louis.

I will have some of the new vonAhrens tuners at the match. 10th & 20th place will win one of them.

It is going to be a great weekend. Hope everyone comes out.

For those coming, be sure to make plans to go to Harry J's Steakhouse. Being a native Texan, we take our steaks serious. It is real hard for me to admit that the best steak I have ever eaten was not in Texas. They are only 16 miles from the range. Dawn and I will definetely being going at least once, maybe twice.

good eats

Dan: Thanks. Looks like the steakhouse might be fairly busy on Friday night.

I understand the devotion to your beloved Texas but I gotta tell you. Texas has the BEST brisket one can ever ask for. Now if you want Prime Rib you gotta go to Wisconsin and the best ever steak comes from a 150 year old steak house in Brooklyn yep NYC for ribeye. I'll be a real happy camper if your recommendation comes even close to that. They don't know what good beef is here in MD. Crabs, yes but if I eat beef I ship it in and cook it myself.

I'm not looking forward to the long drive but the enjoyment on Friday and Saturday at the range will make it worth the effort. Everyone travel safe! bob finger

Well then just don't admit it! Just say they have some real good steaks at Harry J's Steakhouse and let it go.

We Texans have an image to keep up.

You may have just eaten too often at Zentner's Daughter's.

I'm a local, and I can tell you...

Harry J's is good, BUT, Donatelli's is GREAT! It's closer, (7.5 miles), and is located by the Shell station & McDonald's at exit 199 on Hwy 70. We have NEVER had a bad meal there. It's a "must try" when here at St. Louis for a match.

Texas Willies

I remember when a few shooters helped bankrupt Texas Willies several years ago. I was one of the.

Ron:
Do they have the road and bridge work complete when coming up from I-70 at Warrenton?
