what is the purpose of stainless steel bore brushes i see them on the shelves next to the bronze ones but i never hear of anyone using them.are they more likely to scratch the bore of a carbon steel barrel over a stainless steel one

Use them to scrub out revolver cylinders... never use them in anything with rifling.

i would not even use one on a revolver cylinder. it will do the same to the inside of the cylinders chambers as it will a rifles bore.

I got one of those.............

once, and it led me down the garden path. Y'know, as Americans, we many times think, "if enough is good, why, then too much has to be better." I stand before you to beg, Forgive me BRC, for I have sinned! I put to sleep the barrel on a perfectly good L461 :eek: that grouped better than it should have; and I had a rifle better than I should have. That was a HARD lesson that I will not EVER forget until I'm struck with Alzheimer's, if I should be so unfortunate. I hope the gravity of this post is sufficient to convince you of the anguish I carry.;):D

Does anyone here know what alloy and tempering of stainless steel is used in the brushes? Just saying stainless covers a wide range of possible properties.
