Hello Len...

Full results should be available soon, maybe even tomorrow. Yes it was hot with a lot of mirage, temp were over 100* by early afternoon each day.

Mike Paul, shooting his new rail gun, christened it with by winning the grand. Gil Graser, a relatively new shooter, is shooting lights out with the bag guns and won the sporter grand. But the Big Kahuna, Roger Freeman won the Utah State Four Gun Championship edging out local sandbagger Bob Sedgwick.

As Jim said, it was HOT! On Saturday, the wind coming down the canyon was 1 hour and 30 minutes late reversing to up canyon wind from its usual time. It only does that when there is a monster high pressure in place.

Saturday morning found a furry guest or two on the range (and no it wasn't Ed Maxwell) and we had to call a temporary cease fire until two deer walked off the range.

Sunday was really typical conditions for Springville. The wind reversal was right on schedule and the mirage accompanied it. It looked like we were shooting through a river at times.

The new, higher burm on the east provided some badly behaving bullets that spoiled some otherwise great groups. It seems to induce things that the wind flags weren't registering as attested to by the unlucky shooters on bench one and two in the mornings.

All in all, it was a great shoot and thanks to all who stayed late and helped clean up. Many hands make light work!

Forgot to mention...

That the lanky Phoenix phenom, Ed Maxwell, won the combined Sporter/Unltd. this weekend. Ed narrowly missed winning the Utah State Four Gun Championship last year, being edged out by .0004", and has always shot well at Springville.

Also, all of us competitors at Springville wish to thank Ed Maxwell, Art Clegg and Gary Ocock for providing us with a Four Gun Travelling Trophy and hope that each of them will soon have their name engraved on the Trophy.

Len Hagen-

I appreciate you working over the weekend and giving me a chance to shoot and help run the match instead of babysitting a project. I understand you had to work Sunday too-it's much appreciated, but you have to get out and shoot dude!

Almost all of the shooters at the Tournament this last weekend stayed and helped put everything away and load the trailers. This was greatly appreciated, and got us out of there earlier than I have ever seen. Thank you!
