Spotting Scope

I am thinking about getting the Pentax PF100ED spotting scope with the Zoom eyepiece from Camera Land for $1899. Is this a good spotting scope or is it over priced?
Thanks

When you get to this level of spotting scope it comes down to actually looking thru them all and making your decision. When I purchased mine back 7 years ago, it was a tough process. I ended up going with an angled Leica Televid w/ the 20-60 zoom. What swayed me for the Leica, it seemed with my eyes the optics were better, and I liked their focusing better. The focus adjustments had a course and fine dial that allowed for a clearer view.

Best advice, pick what looks best using your eyes not someone elses.

Al,
I have the very scope you are talking about. Yes its good. Yes its heavy. I have been very pleased with it but can't compare it to other high end spotting scopes because other than leupolds this is all I have ever had.

Now I am leaning towards the Zeiss Diascope 85 T FL 85mm but the eyepiece varies from 20-60x and the Pentax 20-78x. Do I need the extra power to see bullet holes at 500 yards? Most scopes go up to 60 power.
