sporter for benchrest shooting.

Well, it's been said here there's a guy from northern MN who shoots an Ultra Light Arms rifle and wins matches with it. CZ 452's are spoken very highly of.

Sako Finnfire,Sako Quad, ULA, Hall,Anschutz 54.18msr,37 Rem,52 Win are all topnotch candidates. For less money and okay performance: Rem 541, CZ 452, 64 Anschutz, 1710 Anschutz, NS 522.
Of course all but the 54 Annie will benefit from trigger work, or custom triggers. New barrel may be needed and Of course from my viewpoint, a good stock is a big help on any of them:)

what rifle is recomended for benchrest sporter class

Thanks to all who posted replies and thank you Don -you gave me what I needed. I am thinking about an Anschutz -right out of the box for my sporter. Need input on which Anschutz model would be best, I have a 1710 HB but it is too heavy to make the weight requirement. Looking for more information on the Anniess. garrisone.:D

Garrisone......................................... . .....

I've got a 1710 with a Shehane stock and a Broughton barrel that will shoot with the best of them!! The trigger is stock, but reworked by Wayne Smith, it's as good as my 54 match trigger. Plan on investing atleast $2000.00 additional dollars to make it competitive.

I've invested around $600 into a Marlin 980S that shot a .13" group the other day (is that competitive?). Maybe money isn't everything.

Wilber: Off the shelf rifles. Thank you for your reply. garrisone.

Anchutz off the shelf...

I have just bought a Anchutz 1416 with beaver tail stock (flat bottom), it makes the weight and initial testing tells me it is very accurate in this class...

Good value for money, until you are ready to spend more dollars on a custom rifle.
