I just got done prepping 200 new Norma 300 WBY cases. I got them from 2 different venders, and one of the venders sent two pacs of 50 cases. I now have 550 cases that weigh 225-227 grains, and 50 that weigh 214-216 grains. I certainly must keep these cases seperate. My question is this (to save a bunch of shooting and chrono work)....Will I need to change my loads with the two different lots? Will there be any difference in velosity between the two? Just tryin to save some time.
On another subject....I won 500 Sierra bullets from the Iowa Club (thanks, by the way...to Pella club and Sierra Bullets!!!) I sorted them by bearing serface. BIG SUPRISE!!!! I always hear how the Sierras realy can't compare to those from the likes of JLK and Berger........HA.....500 bullets....a total of 3 thou between all of them........not one went hi or low. When I sorted 1000 each of berger's 105, 140, and 210, grain pills, I got at least a 10 thou spread. I decided to weigh them....just to see. Now, Of all the loading equipment I have, my scale is the lowest tec, oldest POS I own....RCBS 505 ballance beam. Anyway......either 240.0 or 240.1 grains !!!! Now to be honest, I only weighed about 100 before I said .....well, you know what I said.
I just gotta say that these bullets, from what I can see, are held to tighter tollerances than the "custom's" I have been shooting.....unless some one over there hand picked 500 240 SMK's for me. Probably not.
Good on you Sierra!!!
Side note.....these things do like to be jammed....I did the "paint the bullet two different colors and shoot them together, alternating between the two" thing last night in good conditions. Two 10 shot groups (5 each color). First, I can't believe that you CAN see the color on the paper...it shows up bright as day!!!! Second......2.5 " of vert when jammed hard at 1000 vs 8" with a 30 thou jump......Go figure.
Just had to say......
