I'm building a 6.5x47L on a Rem action, Hart barrel. This wil be a heavy walking varminter. I expect it to shoot well. Here's my ques. I'm considering three scopes one of which is a Nightforce. I've used them and consider them as good as it gets. However, I can save a couple $ by using the target /varment over the NXS but I'm having trouble with the differences. What I've found is that T/V has no stop nor side focus. Is that It? I thank you much and appreciate your help. V/R Greg PS I shoot "Sunday shoots" up to 700 yds, coyotes, and trips west for PDS.

I don't put Nightforce and "walking" in the same rifle. Sorry.

Exactly what i was thinking!! Why not a nice Nikon or Leupold 4x12 Lots of good choices on the market for this intended purpose for a heck of a lot less cash!! Your baby though!! Good Luck!! Lee

Leupy VXIII 6.5-20x40 LR/30mm is a great choice for that application. IMHO, a 50mm obj scope dont go on my hunting rifles.... And I do have the NF-BR scope on my bench guns, no way in heck can I see those things on a hunting rifle, too big, too long, too heavy, too much......

NF Ok

I don't know about that. These days I have an 8x-32x-50 NF scope on my 25/06 and it works very well. I walk miles with it to my favourite varmint sniping spots on various ranches. Yes it is quite heavy but I am only 52 YO and in reasonbaly good health. So if you want to put one of those very nice NF scopes on your baby then go for it.
Andy.

Greg,
A heads up on NF NXS scope reticles. As per Mark at NF, they will no longer be putting in or retro-fitting CH reticles in NXS models. So if you are interested in an uncluttered reticle like the CH, there are still a few around.
