haha not what some were thinking i bet...

when i try and load eley into my hall action, i pretty much have to either load the round by hand or either use quite a bit of thumb pressure on the back of the bolt on the reverse when i load lapua i just drop it on the feed ramp and close the bolt with very little pressure, what gives?? gun was "built" and shoots eley very good so far.. i am waiting on some stock tape to arrive before i test the lapua though..

Difference in either bullet diameter, or amount of wax on it.

i checked both and did discover the eley bullet measured .2235 and the center x was .223 and eley appears to have more wax as well, both ammos brass was .223

You might want to check your throat for lead. The Lapua fits because the drive band is farther back, in all likelyhood.

I have a rifle that acts the same way. Tight feed with black box and drops in the hole with Lapua. This one was chambered for black box by a very well respected smith. It shoots one lot of Lapua Midas + better than any Eley I have tried...not by much but every little bit helps. Of course every rifle I own shoots that lot of Lapua well....and I only have 1.5 cases of it left. bob finger
