this is the 223 min spec chamber, short throat, 26" 1/14 hart bbl. i tried one of my three lots of 8202( faster of the first two "recent" powders).
berger 52/moly/win case, neck turned/fed match primer.
in the past i have said this rifle is about a .25 gun. 3500 fps. no pressure problem...yes there is some. .194"......my first sub 2 with this rifle! this was with a round fore end, not the normal 3" flat i use for br shooting.
will shoot it in a match this sat...and see how it does( it's a score match).

the work continues

Do you know if anyone makes a triangle forend for the things?

I'd love to clamp one of the things in my rail, and chamber it for a tight deuce, with an assisted trigger, but unfortunately, "unlimited" doesn't really mean unlimited...

Good luck in the match! Looking foward to hearing your results.

I have a Sinclair 3" forend adapter that will fit on my free float tube but didnt get around to actually installing it yet. I think it should make a great shooting gun even better.

chuck,
my br ar's have round free float composite tubes on the fore end. i then add a 3 x 6 flat of aluminium to ride the bag ont he front rest. i forgot to get a third one made, and had glued the other two in place...so shooting this one as is. not sure what you are talking about when you say triangle forend...unless you are talking about the original design plastic handguards.

I'd like a foreend that free-floated, but instead of being round, was a flat-bottom 3" wide untapered shape...

me too !
think the easiest way to get there today, is to modify an existing carbon fibre tube and adding a flat to it. to keep it light,,,a carbon fibre flat...

well today was not much fun...six classes and i did not do well in 5 of them. too much work, not enough gun time.
this is a club, score match. mostly 6ppc's tho there was a 20 dasher there today( and he took first) and my short throated 223. we had 14 shooters, and i placed 7th...so the 223 beat 7 ppc's today( for the record my ar10 308 br placed only one position higher last year).
lite wind comming at us from 10/11 oclock, switching to 1/2 oclock...so you could get caught out. i will admit that i shot ok in the wind, holding/predicting the shot. for a change actually relating wind and shot position.
at this point i am looking at begg's chambers in three guns. changing my 223 and 6ppc, to 22 and 6 beggs, and then adding a 30 beggs if it works out.

thanks

How bout replacing the sporter class with a gas gun class?? Either Stoner or piston. Its about time for some significant innovation in BR.

naw...i'm not looking for anyone to change any rules.....i want to use "my" rifles in "Your" classes......my last gun, a 6ppc,has no gas port. it is a single shot rifle...just a funny bolt. the 308 br has the gas system turned off, and i can turn the 223 gas system off any time. its about shooting br, and then BR.
