Im doing an ammo test on 3 different guns
I bought Eley TenX and Lapua Midas Plus for the high price testing........should I bother with RWS R-50 its the same price as the Lapua Midas Pluse?

But I want to test with some mid price ammo as well, I was thinking Eley Match and Lapua Center X.....again RWS has a mid priced one as well, its there Rifle Match, and Its actualy $1 less then the Lapua Center X.....Do you guys think its worth testing this as well?

Last.......The cheaper ammo testing. I was looking at SK and Wolf.....but after looking around for the best pricing i read that these are both made in the same place.....is this true?

Are they the same?

SK Rifle Match = Wolf Match Extra
SK Standard Plus = Wolf Target Match

My question is.....if they are the same will they shoot differently in the same gun?

Thanks

try Federal 922A (made by RWS) or some 900 which was USA made by Federal before they discontinued rimfire production. Both shoot very well in a 40X and 37 I have.

Joe:

You have a good selection there, but remember this, different lot numbers of Eley, be it Tenex or Match will shoot differently in the same rifle. With Lapua and somewhat with Wolf and SK, they do not print their speed on the box, so you cannot tell if the ammo speed is different for different lot numbers. I would suggest trying three or four different lot numbers of each of the Eley to find the one that shoots the best in your rifle..

sk vs wolf

Hi Joe,
My understanding is "SK" and "Wolf' are made in the same factory on the same production lines. They will shoot different out of your rifle as even the same brand ammo with a different lot number will shoot different. So remember when you find a ammo that shoots well out of your rifle to order that same lot number that is printed on the flaps of the 50 round box. I heard a conglomerate called Nammo owns Lapua, Wolf, Sk. Nammo is part of a military armaments company based in Arlington, Virginia. I get my cases of Wolf ammo and they come in a Lapua box.
RWS is a first rate ammo also. They manufacture Federal Ultra Match to Federal specification. Both are top notch ammo and worth trying as the competitive match shooters buy up all the Eley Tenex as soon as it comes out. Remember that most expensive ammo might not be the one that shoots best out of your rifle. If you are lucky you can shoot a mid priced ammo that might group as well or close to the most highly regarded type. Although Eley is the ammo to compare all others against. I think they get their reputation from having top shooters from all over the world send their rifles in to them and are tested on a mechanical vise with every batch of ammo available to see which shoots the best for that rifle. I don't know if the other companies provide that service. ifldned

Tenex box

Thanks to everyone who replied so far.

This is my first time using Eley......cant wait to get to the range "rain".

Was checking out the box the Tenex comes in and could not help to wonder how much we as shooters could save if they just packed them in a plain box.

How much do you think the box they use for the Tenex cost Eley as part of the total price for a box of 50?

Thanks

My pet peeve. I don't understand why Lapua/Eley/RWS doesn't put their ammo in a better carton like the excellent CCI 100ct containers. They are a much better "box". You get bonus points for foolin the gang at the range also:cool:
