Champion Shooter's Supply cannot answer this question about the SK Ammo they sell, so I thought I would post it here.

What is the difference between 'SK High Velocity' and 'SK High Velocity SPC' ?

They are both the same price, but no one at CSS seems to know for certain what the difference is.

If anyone knows, TIA. :)

Sk

I beleive the SPC is Pistol ammo. it's not listed in Steven BOELTER's, "Rifleman's Guide to Rimfire Ammunition." He does however list the HV. Maybe someone has contact info for Steven. he would be the person to ask. Ron :D

I went the SK website and they dont list anything about SPC on their rounds. They also mentioned that the High Velocity rifle rounds specially designed hunting rounds for a flat trajectory. http://www.lapua-gmbh.de/naviEN.html
Could be this "SPC" is something that aint made anymore possibly.

One is a hollow point and the other is a solid point. Both are listed on the SK website at 1262 FPS.

Sorry to post undocumented info - I tried my best to find where I saw this.
I think what you are seeing is caused by the difference in the pistols in HIGH LEVEL competition.
Single shot "Free Pistol" event may last and hour and you can use any ammo that shoots best for you.
The sport pistol matches require semiautos to make the time limits and the rules.
I think the SPC might stand for Sport Pistol Competition or some such, where the ammo has a little more "snap" to it and less lube on the bullet to assure prefect function in the semi autos.
The Eley web site has a Little info on this.

How do you get hollow point from "SPC"? The hollow point is something different. Refer to champion shooters web page and they are completely different animals.

You could always just purchase one box of each and then do a comparison and then come back here and let us know. :D

'Old Geeser..........

Hey for those of you that don't know MKnarr is in the "OLD GEESER" group:eek: - he don't miss very often, lol.
This is from the site he was referring to. They are the only 2 hi vel rounds listed in the SK products. joe

I've shot all the SK ammo available in my 40X bench gun.
I have found the Special pistol Match ammo is by far the most accurate. I know, doesn't sense that a pistol ammo is more accurate in a rifle, but it is. Other shooters at our club with benchrest guns have found the same thing to be true.
Buy a brick of it and see for yourself. Make sure you get the "Special Pistol Match" and not the regular "Pistol Match".

I've used both the PM special and the PM extensively over the last three years in my rifles. While I've found various lots to be a bit superior, I have not found one type to be consistently better than the other. Currently, I'm working on a couple of cases of Pistol Match. If one or the other comes up on sale somewhere, I'll snag another case of either.
