Sizing cases

I'm looking for opinions on which way to size cases for best accuracy. Is it better to neck size? Or is it better to partially FL size while only bumping the shoulder back .002? Which method will give the most accuracy?

I'm shooting a Remington 700 BDL VS in 22-250.

Thanks.

Salty,

The 22-250 is one of those older designs that tends to grow & get snug in the chamber - more than the modern cases with almost parallal sides do anyway.

I would be inclined to full length size the cases j-u-s-t enough so they slip back into the chamber without any noticeable resistance to the bolt closing. That might equate to nudging the shoulder back .001" or .002", but don't be surprised if it doesn't take just that. It will depend on the dimensions of your Remington's chamber & those of your sizing die.

I'm using a Forster FL Die, Redding Neck sizing die and a Redding competition seating die.

Thanks for the reply John.

Full length size with a die that incorporates a bushing/button [for neck tension] each and every time you reload your cases. ;)

If you have bumped the shoulder, with a FL die, you have not done anything partially. You have FL sized with a measured amount of shoulder bump.
