Sinclair's New Rest

I have a good friend who had one and i kind liked it myself. he did not. The big issue or subject with these new rest is all about how the windage works. This rest pivots and most folks seem to like the windage to slide left or right. I'm not convinced that the pivot is all that bad, but to be real honest i dont know? I really like how close together the windage and elevation knobs are on these new rest. That is a big plus in my book. One other thing i noticed was the windage and elevation adjustment didn't seem as smooth or precise as my JJ rest but my experience was limited to one unit and a very short while with it. I wouldn't mind having one but i doubt ill ever pay new price for one. Lee

sinclair rest

I like my sinclair rest.It does help me shoot better. What sinclair could have done;was have a tighter fit on the large elevation shaft to the base.Mine does a good job but I feel like that detracts from the rest a little.I have thought about having another shaft made as it is a very simple piece to machine. The sloppy fit tightens up with the lock shaft but again this detracts from a very good rest.

Life is funny. I was looking at the classifieds here this morning and i found an old sinclair rest kinda like the new one. It has some rust on it and needs some serious TLC but i went ahead and bought it. I dont know anything about these old rest but maybe someone here can tell me a little about it? Lee

Lee, I have been using the older style Sinclair since I started shooting in 1997. It has the windage adjustment at the back next to the elevation. Although I am a bag squeezer, I like this feature. Also, I have added a Dunrud sighter cam to mine. I have tried the joy stick rests, but can't seem to get used to them so I stick with the old Sinclair. Good shooting...James

Thanks JD this particular rest also comes with the sitter cam. it also comes with some rust on it. I dont know maybe you saw them in the classifieds yesterday? A good friend of mine says we can clean them right up and make them like new again!!! I also like the idea of having the wind age and elevation knobs close together! thanks again!! Lee
