On December 24th, 2007, one of the best bullet die makers in the world (IMHO) passed away. However while he is not here in body, his legacy of die making, bullet making and skills have been passed on in part.
As his only son, I grew up shooting with him as a child, learning the basics at 8 years of age (when Eldon Stolle and I were the only kids shooting) (IIRC) and shooting my first NBRSA Nationals in 1970 at Reeds Run in Augusta, OH.
My last registered match was the 1979 NBRSA Nationals in Fairfield, OH, the year I graduated high school. However in my teen and college years I started serving a basic apprenticeship and even helped build the bullet die bodies that many of you may have purchased back then.
As I begin to go through the shop and inventory items and go through the basement, much of the bench rest inventory he acquired over the years will be passed onto me, including the numerous sets of bullet dies. I may or may not choose to re-enter the bench rest field with my son, who turns 11 this spring.
It is with that I bring this to an open forum for your consideration. I am strongly considering producing match grade bullets for sale using the legendary dies my father built.
My question to you.....
Are you interested in buying bullets made by and under the Simonson name with the same exacting detail to quality and precision?
I await your response.
Regards,
Bob Simonson, Jr.
