Can one use silicone spray to lube 22 long rifle ammunition? I am interested on the subject of lubricating ammunition.

First off it would not be legal ammo for match use if you modified the lube and second I doubt that silicone spray would work at the pressure and temps of a bullet fired down a barrel. I use it for drapery rods and that works just fine!

Bottom line is that you could not use it in a match, as it would be altered ammo. So why do it, if you can't use it.?? Now if your just playing around and not shooting matches, you can do anything you like to your ammo.. I know one person who cut an "X" in the nose of his bullets and claimed that it shot much better in the wind than the regular nose.. Try anything you want to, it's your ammo..
