Lee: I have a couple of Sightron 36's....the 'standard' SII 36X and the Big Sky 36X. The optics in the Big Sky are better than the SII. The Big Sky optics are as good as the
best Leupold 36 I've ever had.
Late last season, I did a little scope comparison at my home range. All of the scopes had the occular adjusted for my eyes and I rated them in this order in terms of clarity & resolution:
-Leupold 36BRD
-Weaver T36
-Sightron SII
(a dead heat for these three and will vary depending on individual scopes)
-B&L 36
-Sightron Big Sky 36X
(another dead heat for these two)
-Leupold 35X Competition Series
-NightForce 12-42X56 BR Series.
At last seasons IBS Score Nats, I looked through quite a few scopes as we were waiting for our first warm up relay at 200 yds. with the VfS guns. The targets were in heavy shade and I went up and down the line looking through maybe 12-14 scopes. None were focused for my eyes, but the Leupold 45X Competition Series and a NightForce 12-42X56 were pretty impressive in those conditions. There were a few Marches there, but I didn't get a chance to look through any of them.
If you're interested in a Big Sky, check with Ron Hoehn and see if he still has some.
Good shootin'.
