sight set vs scopes

I am looking at getting an Anschutz 8002 air rifle. It appears that they come with a sight set, model numbers 6834 or 7020.

I have never used a sight set and I was wondering how they compare to using a scope to sight in a target at 25 yds?

It appears the the several of the Match class rifles use the sight sets where the FT rifles generally accept scopes. The FT rifles are designed to be used at extended ranges beyond 25 yds/ meters.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom and assistance.

Sight sets can be very effective with a target that they are matched to but our target is not appropriate for apetures. The dovetail that the sights are mounted on will also accept scope rings so there is no additional conversion required with the exception of the FWB that has a loading gate that interferes with a scope. This can be replaced or modified to work.

When I was much younger, shooting comp. I would average 1 or 2 point difference between irons and scope on same rifle mostly in favor of scope. Now days eyes are not so flexable Irons allways look egg shaped or have a fuzzy edge ( rear sight). If you are over 40 stick with the scope, you will save your self a lot of flustration. The sights that come with the 8002 are entry level. A top set of irons will cost as much as the rifle and more than a sightron or weaver 36x.
