Any one have any experience with one of these? Smartreloader SR679 Black Granite Rest. Not a lot of info available at the web site. How does it compare to Hart or Sinclair?

Thanks!

From looking at it on their site.................

and looking at their other products and their prices, it appears as though they're geared to appeal to the beginning shooter that doesn't have a great deal of experience in using the equipment, but wants to learn. Many times people start out, and they don't have a mentor that can take them shooting and advise them in equipment purchases.

I noticed the rest, and it looked to me as though the legs give a sort of marine experience via the octopod-look legs, and the chrome plated adjustments for leveling.
I think it must have been designed by someone in an office in Peking, that was looking in magazines, and pics on sites like this one, maybe even looked at some of the vendors on sites like this, then gave it just'a dabba flash!! Yeah. It also appears to be a bit heavy at 24Lbs, I don't know what my Hart weighs, I'd guess around 15, but I can carry it in one hand, that item weighs as much as a bag of dog food!!

If you get one, maybe you could spray some black on it. Have a list of stuff to take to the range, and don't forget to include your sunglasses............;)

Not knowing what kind of shooting you're into, but, you could buy the basic Hart and some good quality bags for another $100 or so, then if you'd like to get into competition, you could get a benchrest top for the Hart, and use it until you outgrow it through experience and proficiency in shooting. But look at it this way, you may not have the money for a $4-500 rest, and real benchrest competition may not ever be economically feasible, but, that old Hart will soldier on with you for many years for sighting-in and load development work.
As you can tell, I have a Hart, and I know I'll never go into competition, but its a good rest, and once you have one, you'll find out that a good rest is probably the one piece of equipment you'll buy that will make the most improvement in your shooting ability.

Shooting, and getting some really good instruction, unless you have a pretty good bank account, you'll find its pretty much like other things in life, its a journey, not an event. HTH
